Melbourne speech pathology for children 1 - 8 years of age

The Hills Speech Pathology is a private speech pathology service for children located in Melbourne’s Dandenong Ranges.

Opened by Ellyn Thake in 2023, the practice specialises in providing speech, language and social skill intervention to children between the ages of 1 to 8 years of age who need support to become more effective and confident communicators. The Hills Speech Pathology is a mobile service, so Ellyn can work with children in their everyday settings, including at home, childcare, kinder or school.

How it works

Ellyn is dedicated to ensuring the delivery of holistic, evidence-based, child and family-centered speech pathology services for children living with a disability or additional need and their families. She values the importance of creating goals with the child and their family which are meaningful and achievable, and working as a team towards these goals. Ellyn consults with other relevant professionals where appropriate via email, phone calls or at meetings. This  ensures therapy plans are collaborative and individualised. It also supports the transfer of new skills across a range of different settings such as school, home and in the community.

Ellyn's therapy approach is play-based and focused on the child’s interests and strengths. She believes children learn best when they are doing things they enjoy and this, in turn, helps them to become confident and effective communicators. Ellyn aims to create a warm and engaging space where the child is able to flourish and where the child and family feel valued and well supported in their therapy journey. Ellyn has worked alongside many families over the past 15 years and feels privileged to have been part of so many positive and life changing moments.
